Microsoft Active Directory
Instead of the integrated Microsoft SQL Server authentication, access can be granted via Microsoft Active Directory.
The standard installation always includes the option of this authentication method and it is supported by Q-Matrix™.
To do this, the logged-in user of the PC is passed from Microsoft Active Directory to Microsoft SQL Server.
The access check and authentication are then handled by Microsoft SQL Server for the match against Microsoft Active Directory.
To use this authentication method, a new user must be created in Microsoft SQL Server, which then either assigns the necessary roles and permissions to this one user, or a Microsoft Active Directory group is used instead of a dedicated user.
Using a group has the advantage that access to Q-Matrix™ for individuals is then managed via Microsoft Active Directory group management.
Furthermore, a user can also belong to multiple groups and thus be assigned to a group that is equipped with extended rights for applying Q-Matrix™ updates, etc.
Which rights and roles need to be set can be derived from the previous sections.
The settings for Microsoft Active Directory elements are configured accordingly.
